MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Tommy Baldwin Racing has signed Mike Christopher Jr. for the Open Modified 80 at Stafford Motor Speedway in May.
Longtime partner Mohawk Northeast will be the primary sponsor on the No. 7ny Chevrolet.
“I’ve known Mike since the day he was born and to watch him grow up and become the racer he is, especially in the last year, has been great,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin. “He comes from a great family with great racing history. I can’t wait to get him in the No. 7ny.”
Christopher Jr., the son of modified driver Mike Christopher and nephew of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ted Christopher, has grown up at the race track.
Competing full-time in an SK Modified, he is looking forward to continuing the family legacy, especially at Stafford Motor Speedway.
“I’m more than thrilled for the opportunity to race for Tommy Baldwin,” said Christopher Jr. “I grew up watching the No. 7ny racing with Tiger Tom Baldwin behind the wheel, and watched the car through the years with different top tier drivers. To be part of that list of drivers means a lot to me.
“I hope to have success at Stafford, especially because Tommy’s cars are always stout and I have a lot of experience in the SK modifieds at that track,” he added. “More than anything, I have to thank Tommy, and can only wish to put him in victory lane.”
