WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Jimmy Blewett defended the home turf Saturday at Wall Stadium Speedway, winning the 48th edition of the Turkey Derby at the legendary third-mile asphalt track.
Blewett passed Tyler Truex for the lead on a lap-111 restart and held on to win the 150-lap event for tour-type modifieds. It was his eighth victory in the annual Thanksgiving weekend event, but his first since 2017.
Blewett, who drove the No. 02 modified, earned $10,000 for the triumph.
“This is for all the people who we have lost these past few years,” an emotional Blewett said after a post race display of burn outs. “We have all lost a lot of relatives and friends and I’ve wanted to dedicate a win to then for a while. I am just so happy to get this win for this new team and team owner Ryan Fisher.”
Blake Barney finished second with J.R. Bertuccio, Timmy Solomito and Danny Bohn rounding out the top five.
Briggs Danner topped the TQ midget feature and Neil Rutt III won the limited late model main event.
