OSWEGO, N.Y. – Officials from the International Supermodified Ass’n have released a tentative schedule that includes 11 winged big-block supermodified race dates at 10 speedways across the Northeast, Ohio and Ontario, Canada.
If all goes according to plan, ISMA will begin the year on Wednesday, June 9 with a second attempt at a special mid-week non-point event at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts. The ISMA supers will join the NEMA midgets for their running of the Boston Louie Memorial.
Points racing will begin later in the month on Saturday, June 26 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. A rain-date for the 75-lap show has been established for Sunday, June 27.
July is the busiest month on the ISMA calendar with four races on the slate. The month will open with the series’ only scheduled trip north of the border on Saturday, July 10 at the beautiful Jukasa Motor Speedway in Hagersville, Ontario. After a week off, one of the biggest events of the year takes place at Ohio’s Sandusky Speedway for the annual Hy-Miler Nationals weekend July 23-24.
Teams won’t get a chance to rest after the Hy-Miler as the very next weekend the tour heads to the legendary Home of the Supermodifieds, Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway. The Saturday, July 31 affair will feature the return of the King of Wings which also serves as the Jack Murphy Memorial in honor of the longtime supermodified racer and ISMA official.
A third-straight week of racing will open August with the annual Ollie Silva Memorial 75 Friday, Aug. 6 at New Hampshire’s Lee USA Speedway. Teams will then get a weekend off before returning to the Granite State for ISMA’s first attempt at the third-mile Claremont Motorsports Park in Claremont, N.H.
The series then has two weekends off which will likely include many of the ISMA racers competing at Oswego during International Classic Weekend Sept. 3-5. Teams that compete in the Classic 200 will then face another short turnaround with the ninth event on the calendar set for Saturday, Sept. 11 at Jennerstown (Pa.) Speedway Complex.
After Jennerstown, it’s back to New England for the annual Bob Webber Sr. Memorial Star Classic 150 Saturday, Sept. 18 at the quarter-mile Star Speedway in Epping, N.H.
Tentatively, ISMA will close the year with it’s lone trip to Connecticut on Oct. 9-10 for the famed World Series of Racing at five-eighths-mile Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
