WELCOME, N.C. – Thad Moffitt, the grandson of Richard Petty, will make three ARCA Racing Series starts this year thanks to continued sponsorship from Performance Plus Motor Oil.
Moffitt, who will also compete in NASCAR late model events this year, will enter the ARCA events at Fairground Speedway Nashville on April 7, Pocono Raceway on June 1 and Lucas Oil Raceway on Sept. 7.
Moffitt plans to enter additional ARCA Racing Series events later this summer, with more information to be announced at a later date. Richard Petty Motorsports will partner with the Empire Racing Group to field a car for Moffitt in the ARCA Racing Series.
Moffitt and the Empire Racing Group will begin their race season this Saturday night during the Performance Plus 300 weekend at the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway. Moffitt will race the No. 46 Performance Plus entry in the late model feature this Saturday night. Performance Plus will also be an associate sponsor of Moffitt for the remainder of the year in both ARCA and NASCAR Late Model competition.
Moffitt, the 2016 Southeast Limited Late Model Champion, raced in two ARCA Racing Series events with Performance Plus as his sponsor in 2017. He finished a career-best 11th at Lucas Oil Raceway.
“Performance Plus Motor Oil has been an awesome partner,” said Moffitt. “Their partnership allowed me to race a few races in the ARCA Racing Series last year and really helped me race in some of the biggest Late Model races in the southeast. We’re going to do a little more this year and hopefully we can get our first win in the Late Model and a few Top-10 finishes in the ARCA car. They are great people and I want to run really well for them.”
