Perkins Is Perfect At Evergreen Speedway

MONROE, Wash. — Blaine Perkins topped qualifying Friday by just .002 seconds over his teammate Trevor Huddleston.

Turns out, that was as close as anybody would get to the 20-year-old from Bakersfield, California.

Perkins won the General Tire Pole Award and then went out and led wire-to-wire to win the ENEOS/NAPA Auto Parts 100 at Evergreen Speedway. It was the second ARCA Menards Series West win of the season for Perkins.

Perkins’ No. 9 Sunrise Ford/Four Star Fruit Ford crossed the finish line .931 seconds ahead of Huddleston, giving the Bob Bruncati teammates a 1-2 finish. Huddleston was the defending race winner and finished second for the second straight race in 2020.

The race was slowed just twice for debris, and each time, Perkins pulled away on the restarts.

Bill McAnally Racing took the next four spots, led by Gio Scelzi. Championship points leader Jesse Love was fifth, followed by Gracie Trotter and Holley Hollan.

Todd Souza, Jack Wood and Takuma Koga rounded out the top 10.

Perkins cut Love’s lead to eight, as the ARCA Menards Series West heads south for Saturday evening’s ENEOS/NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Ore. Huddleston and Trotter are tied for third, 28 back of Love.

The finish:

Blaine Perkins, Trevor Huddleston, Gio Scelzi, Jesse Love, Gracie Trotter, Holley Hollan, Todd Souza, Jack Wood, Takuma Koga, Bobby Hillis Jr., Bridget Burgess.
