DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In less than four weeks Australian born racer Michael Lia will make his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut at Daytona Int’l Speedway with eight-time Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 champions Bobby Gerhart Racing.

Lia, a dual Australian Karting Champion and Late Model Rookie of the Year, will turn his first laps at Daytona during the Dec. 20-22 ARCA Racing Series test session. Testing for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is scheduled to consist of three days of single car runs as well as drafting practice.

“When we started to discuss the opportunity with Michael, we were impressed with just how dedicated he is to being a wheel-man,” said team owner Bobby Gerhart. “He lives and breathes this sport and I look forward to him being part of the Bobby Gerhart Racing team for the test.”

Lia is focused on securing a number of driving opportunities for the 2014 season alongside his commitment to the Australian V8 Supercar Dunlop Racing Series. Lia will drive the Bobby Gerhart Racing Chevrolet Impala during the test session after a small break from the track following the arrival of his first child with wife Hayley in late 2012. Lia stated that he can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Bobby Gerhart Racing Chevrolet.

“I feel humbled to be working with such a great competitor as Bobby Gerhart,” said Lia. “I cannot wait to learn all that I can and to show that I have what it takes to compete in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. It has always been a dream to race at Daytona and I am just about to cross that off my bucket list. I am focused and prepared and have such great equipment and I cannot ask for more.”
