CONCORD, N.C. — Like much of the sprint car racing world, World Racing Group officials were paying close attention to yesterday’s launch of the new High Limit Sprint Car Series.
The series, which is being promoted by Kyle Larson and three-time World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series champion Brad Sweet with plans to run big-money, midweek events, will stream its races on FloRacing.
World Racing Group owns the World of Outlaws and DIRTVision, which broadcasts all World of Outlaws events.
“We are aware of the announcement and we’ve spoken with Brad and some of the other industry stakeholders,” WRG officials said in a statement. “We are keeping an eye on what they’re planning and how it’s coming together.”
Currently, drivers under contract as full-time World of Outlaws competitors would be precluded from competing in most High Limit Sprint Car Series events. However, WoO officials are evaluating the situation.
“We’re still looking at how their program is building, but our driver agreements preclude them from being able to compete in the August event.”
The first High Limit Sprint Car Series race is scheduled for Aug. 16 at Lincoln Park Speedway.
