World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series officials have lifted the series’ exclusivity restrictions temporarily.
When contacted by SPEED SPORT, World Racing Group officials confirmed that between June 30 to July 8 when there are no World of Outlaws races scheduled, contracted full-time drivers and teams can compete in other sprint car events without it counting toward the four-race limit.
“Yes, the restrictions were lifted for the period of June 30 to July 8, limited to pre-existing events that have been scheduled between those dates,” the official told SPEED SPORT.
Neither the World of Outlaws, nor the rival High Limit Racing series have any events scheduled prior to the July 10 World of Outlaws event at Wisconsin’s Beaver Dam Raceway.
However, the 34th annual Pennsylvania Speedweek is in full swing, with round four of the series set for Monday night at Lincoln Speedway. While many High Limit racers were expected for the full week of racing in the Keystone state, some outlaw teams may also participate since the restrictions designed to keep teams in the series exclusive to the series, have been lifted.
Every PA Speedweek event features a winner’s purse of at least $10,000, including a $20,000-to-win event up for grabs at Williams Grove Speedway on July 5.
In addition to PA Speedweek, some teams are expected to venture to Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway on Saturday to tune up for the Aug. 7-10 Knoxville Nationals.
With 14 races lost to weather-related postponements or cancelations already this season, some teams are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to race.
