MOORESVILLE, N.C. — World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competitor Joey Saldana has been released from his contract with Kasey Kahne Racing following the conclusion of the 2012 season.
“While I’m disappointed to have been released by Kasey after seven seasons with the team, I’m thankful to Kasey and my crew guys for all their effort,” Saldana said. “We have won a lot of races together.”
While driving for Kasey Kahne Racing, Saldana has earned 77 victories (70 of them in World of Outlaws competiton) and has finished second twice, third twice and fourth twice in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. He currently ranks fourth in points with seven races remaining.
“I want to thank all my fans for their support through the years and in the upcoming off-season,” said Saldana, who is 40 years old. “I am hopeful to be back out on the World of Outlaws tour next year competing for a championship.”
Saldana has not announced any plans for the 2013 season. Kasey Kahne Racing also fields a full-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series entry for Cody Darrah and a part-time team for Brad Sweet.
Saldana has five victories this season, while Darrah and Sweet have each won once.
