Rain Strikes Again, Forces WoO To Cancel Williams Grove Appearance

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Daytime rains and a forecast for more rain during the evening have forced Williams Grove Speedway and World of Outlaws officials to cancel the March 17 opening day racing program.

The event would have been the first time in history that the Williams Grove season opener was sanctioned by the Outlaws.

Advanced reserved ticket holders who purchased tickets through the World of Outlaws will receive a face-value credit to their MyDirtTickets.com account. If a credit to that account is not a viable option, all ticket holders have until April 17 to request a refund.

The World of Outlaws circuit will return to Williams Grove Speedway for a two-day stand on May 12 and 13.

The season opener at Williams Grove is now scheduled for Friday, March 24. The Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars will do battle for a $5,500 top prize. The season opener will also feature the ULMS super late models in a $3,000-to-win, 30-lap main event. The appearance by the super late models will be the only show of the season at the track by the unlimited super stock cars.

The World of Outlaws now turns its attention to the final round of the Low-E Insulation Spring Showdown at Lincoln Speedway on March 18, with a good forecast. Current series points leader David Gravel and Carson Macedo are tied for the points lead of the Low-E Insulation Spring Showdown mini-series.

Ten-time Series champion Donny Schatz is 22 points back in third.
