KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Gio Scelzi had a spectacular week at Knoxville Raceway, and using his solid performance during the Southern Iowa Sprintweek into $6,000 when he was crowned the Beaver Drill & Tool Jesse Hockett Mr. Sprint Car.
The Fresno, Calif. teenager’s fourth place finish in Saturday’s 60th Annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals finale sealed the deal.
Brian Brown earned $2,500 for finishing second in the standings while Justin Henderson settled for third and $1,000. Cory Eliason, Shane Golobic, Tyler Courtney, Daryn Pittman, Brooke Tatnell, Brent Marks and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top 10.
Beaver Drill & Tool Company of Kansas City is in their third year as title sponsor of the Beaver Drill & Tool Jesse Hockett Mr. Sprint Car Award. The Vielhauer family, well-known in the sprint car racing community are owners of Beaver Drill & Tool Co.
