Five-time World of Outlaws feature winner Jacob Allen has decided to “take some time off of racing,” according to a statement released by Shark Racing via Twitter on Saturday afternoon.
His break from the No. 1a sprint car will begin Saturday night during the Summer Nationals finale at Williams Grove Speedway.
Landon Myers will instead pilot Shark Racing’s No. 1a entry at the weekend finale. Myers guided a third Shark Racing entry during the Eldora Million and Kings Royal at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway. Myers qualified for the Kings Royal feature and finished 22nd.
Notably, Allen’s teammate, Logan Schuchart (and nephew), won on Friday night at the half-mile dirt oval. Shark Racing is owned by Allen’s legendary father, sprint car Hall of Famer Bobby Allen.
“I have decided to take some time off of racing to focus on myself and my family. Thank you to all my family, friends and fans for your support,” wrote Allen, who was married (to wife, Hannah) during the offseason.
He did not set a return date.
This season is Allen’s 10th year on the World of Outlaws circuit. In the opening 36 races, he has collected four top fives and 14 top-10 finishes in the No. 1a sprint car. He is currently 10th in points.
