Longtime sprint car driver Bill Rose is set to have surgery on his fractured sternum following the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, according to a social media post by Bill Rose Racing.
Rose, who’s been sidelined since May due to a crash at Ohio’s Fremont Speedway, will undergo surgery after a C.T. scan and consultation with a specialist last week determined that “healing isn’t happening as fast as the M.D. would like.”
The Plainfield, Ind. native is scheduled to have surgery the week after the World Finals, “where a plate and screws will be used to put his sternum back together.”
Dylan Cisney has been piloting Rose’s No. 6 sprint car since mid-September.
