Vet Daun Scores Big

WILMOT, Wis. — Veteran sprint-car driver Todd Daun scored the biggest victory of his career by capturing the Interstate Racing Ass’n Outlaw Sprints feature at Wilmot Raceway Saturday night.

Daun, the 2008 Wilmot Raceway track champion and former IRA Rookie of the Year, took the lead from Steve Meyer on the fifth lap before swapping the lead multiple times with series point-leader Billy Balog throughout the 30-lap affair.

As the laps wound down, Balog found himself in a battle for second with Wayne Johnson, which allowed Daun to pull away and secure the victory on the third-mile clay oval.

Balog held off Johnson to finish second. John Haeni was fourth and Steve Meyer fifth.

The finish:
Todd Daun, Billy Balog, Wayne Johnson, John Haeni, Steve Meyer, Scott Uttech, Todd Hepfner, Donny Goeden, Mike Reinke, Scott Biertzer, Brian Kristan, Bill Warren, Kris Spitz, Bill Wirth, Darrell Dodd, Joe Symoens, Phillip Mock, Scott Neitzel, Mike Kertscher, Dave Uttech, Billy Hafemann, Patrick Haynes.
