ROSSBURG, Ohio — Chris Windom doubled up, while Rico Abreu claimed his first Eldora Speedway victory in Saturday night’s 4-Crown Nationals tripleheader for all three USAC national touring series open-wheel divisions.
The fast qualifier with a lap of 16.441 seconds on the half-mile dirt track, Abreu drove Keith Kunz’s No. 67 around Bryan Clauson on the seventh lap and paced the remainder of the 25-lap Honda USAC National Dirt Midget Series feature for his first victory at Eldora.
Abreu held off his teammate and series point leader, Christopher Bell, for the triumph, while Tracy Hines, Bobby East and Dave Darland rounded out the top five.
Windom led only the final lap of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series feature, driving the familiar Walker No. 11 to the point after Tracy Hines, who appeared en route to victory had trouble on the final circuit.
Chasing Windom to the checkered flag were Jac Haudenschild, Darland, Clauson and Robert Ballou.
Windom’s victory in the TRAXXAS USAC Silver Crown Series season finale was not as dramatic.
He took the lead from fast qualifier Bobby East on the fourth lap and paced the remainder of the 50-lap race for the victory in the RW/Curb-Agajanian No. 17.
Matt Westfall finished second, ahead of Shane Cockrum, Taylor Ferns and Darland, who finished in the top five in all three races.
East came home sixth and wrapped up his second straight Silver Crown title by six points over Windom.
