KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Wyatt Burks dominated from the pole en route to winning Friday night’s Weld Memorial for the USAC Midwest Wingless Ass’n at Lakeside Speedway.
Burks staved off a mid-race challenge from eventual runner-up Cody Baker, eventually leading 23 of the 25 laps in the feature. He retook command on lap 19 and went on to win by 2.176 seconds.
Baker came home second after briefly getting to the front of the field, leading laps 17 and 18, while three-time POWRi national midget champion Zach Daum completed the podium.
Wesley Smith and Jack Wagner were fourth and fifth, respectively, followed by Don Droud Jr., Luke Howard, Anthony Nicholson, Brian Beebe and Samuel Wagner.
