VENTURA, Calif. — Ryan Timms raced to the lead on lap six and captured Friday night’s USAC West Coast Sprint Car Extreme Mufflers dash at California’s Ventura Raceway.
Timms led the final 10 laps of the 15-lap event at the fifth-mile dirt oval in the family-owned No. 5t.
Last year, Timms won the Saturday night feature as part of the Turkey Night Grand Prix weekend and enters this Saturday’s event as the defending winner.
Chase Johnson finished second, with Brody Fuson, Blake Bower and Cole Wakim rounding out the top five.
Brody Roa was transported to a local hospital for observation after a flip during the fifth heat.
On Saturday, the pits open at 11 a.m. PT with the drivers meeting at 2:45 p.m., the grandstands opening at 3 p.m. and cars on track at 3:30 p.m.
