SOMERTON, Ariz. — Taking the lead from Tommy Malcolm on lap 19, Brody Roa led the rest of the way to capture the opening night for the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series at Cocopah Speedway on Friday.
Piloting Tom and Christy Dunkel’s No. 17r Inland Rigging / Dunkel Farms DRC, Roa earned the 14th series win of his career and the first for his brand new car owners in their first USAC/CRA event.
Kevin Thomas Jr., Malcolm, Cody Williams and Charles Davis Jr. followed Brody to the checkered flag.
Williams opened the night by earning the 10th Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award of his career with a lap of 16.250 seconds.
The non-winged 410 sprint cars will return to “The Diamond in the Desert,” on Saturday night and the event can be seen on SPEED SPORT affiliate IMCA.tv.
