NIPOMO, Calif. — R.J. Johnson raced from fourth-starting position to win Saturday’s USAC-CRA Sprint Car Series feature at Santa Maria Speedway.
David Gasper led the first 17 laps, but Johnson took control on lap 18 and led the remainder of the 30-lap event.
Gasper came home second, with Logan Williams third.
Austin Williams was fourth, while point leader Tommy Malcolm rallied from a flip during the second heat to finish fifth.
Blake Bower was the fast qualifier with a lap of 13.933 seconds.
