BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Daison Pursley led fellow Toyota-powered drivers Justin Grant and Jacob Denney in a Toyota one-two-three finish during round three of USAC’s Indiana Midget Week Friday at Bloomington Speedway.
The win is the second of the season for Pursley. The USAC NOS Energy National Midget Championship point leader has now registered podium finishes in each of this week’s three IMW events.
“This Pristine Auction NOS Energy Drink Toyota Racing No. 86 is unbelievable to drive right now,” Pursley said. “It makes my job so much easier. I have all the confidence that wherever I start in the feature, I know we’ll have a car capable of winning. I felt I ran a really good 30 laps and was able to manage the race from the midway point. Hats off to Chad Boat and everyone who’s a part of this CB Industries team.”
It was Grant that dominated much of the early going as he would quickly move to the front, leading the field on the opening lap with Denney in second and Pursley moving into the top three on lap two. The top three stayed in place until lap seven when Pursley would drive around Denney on a restart.
Grant would continue to lead through the first half of the 30-lap feature before Pursley would eventually drive under Grant for the lead on lap 16 in turns one and two.
A late caution would result in a four-lap dash to the finish line, but Pursley would remain firmly in charge to take the win, followed by Grant and Denney. The second-place finish is Grant’s best finish of the season.
Logan Seavey and Gavin Miller rounded out the top five.
Tye Mihocko won the non-winged sprint car feature.
