ROSSBURG, Ohio — Mitchel Moles earned his first USAC Silver Crown Series victory and denied Daison Pursley a sweep of all three USAC features during the 42nd running of the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway.
Pursley, who won the sprint car and midget features earlier in the program, started from the pole for the 50-lap event and led the first 12 laps of the high-banked half-mile oval.
But Moles passed Pursley for the lead on lap 13 and led the rest of the way aboard the Reinbold/Underwood No. 119 machine, registering his first victory in the big-car division.
Series point leader Kody Swanson came on strong at the end and finished second, while Briggs Danner romped from 12th starting spot to complete the podium.
Pursley and Brian Ruhlman completed the top five.
