PARAGON, Ind. – Thanks to his win on opening night Thursday at Paragon Speedway, Thomas Meseraull was the early Indiana Midget Week point leader when the standings were released Friday morning.
Meseraull owns a three-point lead over Paragon runner-up Cannon McIntosh, who also holds down second in the Indiana Midget Week standings.
The San Jose, Calif., native is ahead of the Bixby, Okla., teenager 75-72.
Thursday’s Indiana Midget Week opener marked Meseraull’s first career IMW victory in his 28th start in the annual mini-series held during the heart of the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series calendar.
Behind the leading duo, Justin Grant placed himself third in Indiana Midget Week points, six adrift of the top spot. Fellow Californians Buddy Kofoid and Logan Seavey sit tied for fourth, eight points back of first.
Jason McDougal, Daison Pursley, Chris Windom, Emerson Axsom and Ryan Timms close the top 10 with one of eight races in the books.
Indiana Midget Week continues Friday night with round two at Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway, where the USAC national midgets will be accompanied by the Bloomington weekly non-winged sprint cars.
Cars will hit the speedway at 6 p.m. for hot laps.
