Larson Back In Silver Crown During Bettenhausen 100

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Kyle Larson will return to USAC Silver Crown competition this Sunday aboard the Sean Michael Motorsports No. 19 for the 57th running of the Bettenhausen 100 presented by Fatheadz Eyewear on the Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Larson will look to continue his amazing season that has seen him post 41 victories in midgets, sprint cars, late models and Silver Crown cars, which included a victory in Silver Crown competition during the Hoosier Hundred on Aug. 23 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

That race marked Larson’s first USAC Silver Crown appearance in eight seasons. He won the pole, but started from the tail after changing a right-rear tire prior to the race. He overcame the penalty, eventually leading the final 32 laps to win the event.

In total, Larson’s seven USAC starts in 2020 have produced five wins and two 2nd place finishes, with four of those victories coming with the NOS Energy Drink National Midgets during Indiana Midget Week.

Larson’s lone previous Bettenhausen 100 start came during the 2011 season at Springfield, where he started sixth and finished fourth piloting the Keith Kunz Motorsports No. 71. In 10 career Silver Crown starts, Larson has won three times and been the fastest qualifier on four occasions.
