INDIANAPOLIS — Fulfilling the dream of racing the Driven2SaveLives BC39 presented by Avanti Windows and Doors, Alex Karpowicz will drive the Mounce/Stout Motorsports, Hooey Brands sponsored No. 19 midget in the sixth annual event at The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“The chance to showcase my skills at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, one of the most iconic stages in motorsports, is something every driver dreams of. To be part of the BC39, a race that honors Bryan Clauson’s legacy, is truly special,” stated Karpowicz.
“Driving for Mounce/Stout Motorsports in the BC39 is a dream come true. I can’t thank Jay Mounce and the entire Mounce/Stout team enough for this incredible opportunity. I’m excited for my midget debut with such a top-notch team.”
The Sept. 26-28 event serves as Karpowicz’s debut with the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship, as well as his first foray into midget racing.
“We at Mounce/Stout always looked forward to the BC39. It’s a special event that means a lot. This year isn’t any different, we always look forward to working with young drivers like Alex;” explained Jay Mounce. “Our program is about giving these young, talented drivers opportunities on a big stage, and we are excited about what lies ahead for Alex and for our team.”
Honing his racing skills over the past few years with the Dirt2Media National Open Wheel 600 Series, Karpowicz’s progression through the micro ranks is one of perseverance, as he has overcome the challenges of scoliosis.
Getting corrective surgery in July 2020, Karpowicz races with a pair of 13-inch rods in his spine with 22 screws to help correct a 55-degree curvature in his spine.
Despite that challenge, Karpowicz has been able to win 11 feature wins at eight different tracks since 2022.
