INDIANAPOLIS — Rookie Kale Drake took the lead from Keith Kunz Motorsports teammate Gavin Miller on lap seven and led the final 24 laps in earning his first USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series win in the preliminary feature for the Driven2SaveLives BC39 at the Dirt Track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race was originally scheduled for Friday night before being postponed due to weather.
With the victory, Drake becomes the seventh different Toyota driver to win in USAC competition this season. He now advances directly to Sunday night’s feature event. Joining Drake in tonight’s feature is Jade Avedisian, who climbed from tenth to earn a third-place podium finish.Â
They were followed by fellow Toyota drivers Justin Grant in fourth, Miller in fifth and Karter Sarff in sixth.
Drake and Avedisian join two more Toyota drivers who have already locked into tonight’s Driven2SaveLives BC39 as Cannon McIntosh placed second and Daison Pursley was third in Thursday night’s feature.
