NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Tracy Hines will be looking for a new ride in the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series in 2013.
Calderwood Racing, which has campaigned the No. 4 sprint car for Hines since 2010, has closed its doors. Long-time open wheel supporter Dave Calderwood owned the team until he died at the age of 69 in April. Following his death, operation of the race team was assumed by his son, Rex Calderwood.
MP Environmental, which is owned by the Calderwood family, will remain a sponsor of Tracy Hines moving forward in a lesser capacity.
“It had been 10 years since I ran for the Calderwood family, but we had always kept in touch,” said Hines, when reflecting on his pairing with Dave Calderwood. “I’m just really thankful for getting to spend the last three years with Dave. He loved this sport as much as I do and I am really fortunate to have gotten to share that with him again.”
Hines wrapped up the 2012 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series season aboard the No. 4 with a fourth-place finish in the point standings.
