MERCED, Calif. – With the debut of the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series at Merced Speedway drawing closer, event details and purse information for the 600, Midget Lite and sprint car events have been finalized.
“Our team at Merced Speedway is really looking forward to this event, and we have been working hard to give it a special feel,” Doug Lockwood said.
Tuesday night’s opener will serve as practice night for the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series, as well as a complete night of racing action for the winged and non-winged 600s, as well as the BCRA Non-Winged Midget Lites.
Each 600 class will compete for $500 to win, while the BCRA Division will vie for their standard purse.
To end the night after practice and feature events, the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series will have the option to take part in a King of the Hill event.
“It is one thing for the midgets to get their first laps during hot lap sessions, but we thought some competitive laps would also help the teams out, and make it that much more of an entertaining evening,” Lockwood added.
All teams are invited to participate in the bracket-style race, however space is limited to just 24 spots on a first come, first served basis, with a $20 entry fee per entrant.
Entrants will be split into six four-car bracket groups for the first round, with groups and line ups set by random draw. The top-three finishers in each group will advance to the second round.
Round two will see the top three from each group face off against the top three from the other group that was on their side of the bracket.
This round is lined up by random draw, with the top three finishers advancing to the finals to battle the top three from the other semifinal match race.
The finals will again be lined up by random draw, and the payout (based on 24 entrants) will offer $1,000 to the winner, $400, $200, $100, and $50 for the final two finishers.
The first two rounds will be eight laps, and the final round will be a 10-lap Dash.
Wednesday night the NOS Energy Drink USAC National Midget Series will be back in action for a full slate of racing action, and they will be joined by Hoosier Tire winged 360s presented by www.onefasttee.com.
While USAC will take part in a standard show with a standard purse at this time, the 360s will follow the rules and format of the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, with $2,000 to win and $200 to start the feature event on offer.
The Merced grandstands will be closed to fans, but both nights will be livestreamed.
