Davis Nips Johnson In Queen Creek Battle


QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. – Charles Davis Jr. was the last man standing after a battle with R.J. Johnson in the final laps of Saturday’s USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series event at Arizona Speedway.

Johnson led the opening 22 laps of the 30-lap affair before Davis took command on lap 23. Davis led the next six laps, but Johnson charged back to the front on lap 29.

The two continued to battle for the race lead on the final lap, with Davis getting the edge at the finish line to score the victory.

Bruce St. James followed the leaders to the finish line in third. Ryan Linder and Ronnie Clark completed the top five.
