VENTURA, Calif. – A.J. Bender closed out the season with the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series with a trip to victory lane Saturday night at Ventura Raceway.
Bender started eighth in the 30-lap feature, with Troy Rutherford leading the early laps from the pole. Ryan Bernal briefly led on lap 14, only for Rutherford to get the lead back on the 15th circuit.
Bender would make his way to the front on the 24th circuit, a position he would hold for the remainder of the race. He earned $3,000 for the victory.
Bernal finished second after starting third, with World of Outlaws regular Carson Macedo finishing third. Rutherford was fourth after leading most of the race and Chase Randall completed the top-five.
