Bayston Sets Pace In Western World Midget Practice

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – Spencer Bayston led all drivers with a lap of 15.303 seconds during Thursday night’s USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget practice session at Arizona Speedway.

The night, designated fully for practice, was the final tune-up prior to the 53rd annual Western World Championships presented by San Tan Ford this Friday and Saturday night at the third-mile dirt oval.

Bayston’s top lap in his Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports/AME Electrical Contracting – ZMax/Spike/Stanton SR-11x was faster than the current one-lap track record for the series, a 15.426-second lap set by teammate Logan Seavey during qualifying in 2019.

The 2017 USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget champion was followed in the session by Tanner Carrick at 15.358; Tyler Courtney at 15.453; Chris Windom at 15.494; and Thomas Meseraull at 15.541.

It was a Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports sweep of top practice times on Thursday night.  Bayston topped the midget class while Seavey led the field for the companion AMSOIL USAC CRA & Southwest Sprint Car portion of the program.

Courtney leads the series standings by 15 points over Chris Windom entering the weekend’s two events.
