INDIANAPOLIS – USAC’s Speed2 Midwest Thunder Midgets will take on a 20-race schedule this year, split among three different quarter-mile dirt tracks in the state of Indiana.

The season begins on April 20 at Montpelier Motor Speedway, marking the first of 10 races on the docket there. Additional stops will follow on May 11, May 18, June 22, June 29, July 13, July 20, Aug. 10, Sept. 14 and Sept. 21.

Seven dates are slated for the series at Gas City I-69 Speedway, starting on May 17. The series will return for races on June 14, July 18, Aug. 2, Aug. 16, Sept. 13 and Oct. 5.

The red clay of Bloomington Speedway hosts the series three times, with events on May 24, July 5 and Aug. 9.

Ohio’s Aaron Leffel collected his second consecutive Midwest Thunder Midget title last year on the strength of three victories. Stratton Briggs and Chett Gehrke also won thrice, while Chase McDermand, Gedd Ross and Alex Watson found victory lane once apiece.
