PERRIS, Calif. — The AMSOIL USAC-CRA Sprint Car Series will begin the 2011 campaign Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway.

Mike Spencer, the three-time and defending series champion, leads the entry list aboard Ron Chaffin’s No. 50 Maxim. Last year Spencer drove to five USAC-CRA victories, four of which came at Perris.

Danny Sheridan finished second in the championship chase, but this year he may have his best shot at capturing the series title. Sheridan will pilot a brand new Sherman Fabrication chassis out of the Kittle Motorsports stable.

Driving the No. 37 J.W. Mitchell Motorsports Maxim backed by Mancha Realtors and Sierra Springs, Matt Mitchell was third in the series standings with one victory at Perris Auto Speedway last October. Cory Kruseman was fourth and will be driving the No. 21k Kruseman Motorsports Eagle after winning three races last year.

Joining the stars of the AMSOIL USAC-CRA Sprint Car Series will be USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series championship leader Damion Gardner. Gardner, the 2005 USAC-CRA champion, won five USAC-CRA races last year while finishing second in the USAC National standings.

A number of other drivers, including Blake Miller, Greg Bragg, Austin Williams, Ronnie Gardner, Cody Williams, David Cardey, Rip Williams, Rickie Gaunt and Nic Faas are expected to compete.

Local 360 iron-block powered sprint cars are also expected to join their 410 counterparts Saturday. The 360s can run their local approved tires, but must meet series tech standards and race track muffler rules.
