SAPULPA, OKLA. – Scoring his first victory of the season with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League, Tyler Thomas was the top dog on Friday during night one of the Sooner Showdown at Creek County Speedway.
With a strong 27-car field on hand, a trio of heat races set the stage for the 25-lap main event. Points leader Andrew Felker topped Smith Titanium heat one, Thomas drove the BT Machine, Spike/Toyota No. 91T to the win in Keizer Wheels heat two, and Hank Davis won Saldana Racing Products heat three.
Although Pierce Urbanosky and Matt Sherrell led the field to green, there would be no denying Thomas on this night. The 12-time POWRi National Midget winner owned the local stage as he ran away with a commanding victory at Creek County Speedway with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midgets.
Cannon McIntosh advanced the Dave Mac Motorsports, Spike/Toyota No. 11B from fifth to finish second, while Jonathan Beason rounded out the podium aboard his Hard 8 Racing, Spike/Esslinger No. 8J.
