BELLEVILLE, Ill. – In light of recent guidance and directives from the CDC suggesting the postponement of events over the next several weeks, POWRi and track officials have postponed the Turnpike Challenge.
The new dates for the Oklahoma-based mini-series will be the week of April 29 through May 3.
The week-long excursion visits Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City and Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla.
“All of POWRi’s events bring national travel and our concern is the risk posed to our fanbase, race teams, and staff. The health and safety of all POWRi event attendees is our priority and this measure has been taken so that everyone can follow the recommended guidelines as advised by government officials,” POWRi officials said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been affected by this pandemic.
“While this event has been rescheduled, POWRi officials and track officials are evaluating the 2020 schedule as the COVID-19 situation continues to develop. Any further changes will be communicated via press releases and social media updates. We thank you for your patience during this time and we look forward to seeing you at the track.”
