MARION, Ill. — Steven Snyder Jr. set sail smoothly all night to win on preliminary night one of the fourth annual Keith Kunz Motorsports Challenge at Southern Illinois Raceway.
It was his fourth POWRi Non-Wing Outlaw Micro League victory of the season.
Snyder, the high-point qualifier, battled outside front-row contender Chelby Hinton as the green flag waved with Snyder separating from the field as Hinton, Kris Carroll, Frank Flud and Brant Woods chased until a yellow flag waved on lap nine.
Roaring back to the green flag, Snyder returned to the point with Hinton, Carroll, Flud and Woods battled behind the leader.
all battling four-wide for top five spots as Jake Andreotti, Colby Sokol, Joe B Miller, Chase Bolf, and Daniel Robinson competing closely behind inside the top ten with caution once again being revealed after a single completed lap.
Despite several more yellow flags, Snyder held steady up front for his ninth career POWRi Non-Wing Outlaw Micro victory as Hinton held off Flud to finish second.
“Car came in really good there at the end on a very good track tonight,” said Snyder. “I was testing not only the track tonight but also the choose cone for options on Saturday, and I feel like I was able to learn more for championship night.”
Carroll and Daniel Robinson, who started ninth, completed the top five.
