BELLEVILLE, Ill. – This weekend’s POWRi season championship, featuring both the POWRi Lucas Oil National and West Midget Leagues, has succumbed to rain.
“With the amount of rain that we have had over the past week, coupled with low temperatures and more rain in the forecast, we have to cancel this weekend,” noted Kennedale Speedway promoter Bo Rowden. “In trying to be mindful of the travel time for many of the teams, we waited as long as we could. Mother Nature has not been kind to the racing community of Texas this year.”
“We hate to see the season end on a rainout like this for both the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League and POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League,” added POWRi Director of Competition Jason McCord. “But on a high note, congratulations to our newest champions, Tucker Klaasmeyer for the National League and Kory Schudy for the West League.”
With the cancellation of the season championship, current POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League point leader Tucker Klaasmeyer has been crowned the 2018 POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League champion.
Kory Schudy, the current point leader for the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League will be crowned as the 2018 POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget League champion.
The POWRi championship banquet will be held on Jan. 26, 2019. The banquet will honor the top-10 point finishers in each division.
