Neuman Is The Master Of Mighty Macon

MACON, Ill. – Jake Neuman started second and bested a pair of Keith Kunz Motorsports entries to emerge victorious in Saturday’s POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League feature at Macon Speedway.

The 30-lap main event would line up with the KKM entry of Cannon McIntosh and Neuman on the front row. McIntosh took the lead at the start while behind him his teammate Buddy Kofoid made a wild four-wide move entering turn one to take over the second position on lap two.

An early caution slowed the pace and during the ensuing restart Kofoid took a look to the inside of McIntosh into turn one, with the leaders making slight contact, but both were able to continue with Kofoid now in the lead.

Kofoid built a big lead from there, but a caution flag at the halfway point brought the field back to him, with Neuman now finding himself in second. He made his move on the 21st circuit, taking the top spot from Kofoid shortly before a caution flag.

Neuman was able to hang on in the final laps of the race to take home the victory, with Kofoid and McIntosh completing the podium. Mitchell Davis and Zach Daum finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

“I thought they were going to wreck each other, they got together a little bit, so I just had to take advantage of it,” Neuman said. “This really helps with the championship and beating the KKM cars, they are the best there is.”

In companion action, Tony Clifton earned his first POWRi Engler Machine & Tool 600cc Micro League victory.
