SAPULPA, Okla. – It took veteran Jonathan Beason less than five laps to drive from eighth on the grid to the front of the pack in Saturday night’s Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League feature at Creek County Speedway.
Making a three-wide pass on series veterans Eric Fenton and Michelle Decker to take the lead, once out front Beason set sail en route to his first POWRi West win of the season.
Behind him, Decker held off a late race challenge from defending series champion Andrew Felker to pick up her first podium finish of the year. Decker also earned the Realty Connect second place bonus. Felker moved forward from his sixth starting spot to round out the podium, followed by Kyle Jones and Fenton.
In Smith Titanium heat race action, Ryan Padgett was on his way to his first POWRi West heat race win when Beason made a last-lap pass to steal it away. Beason’s sixth-to-first run also earned him the Rod End Supply High Passing Points Award.
