TULSA, Okla. — Steven Snyder Jr. captured the victory on the opening preliminary night of the Keith Kunz Motorsports Giveback Classic Thursday night at Port City Raceway.
It was his eighth victory of the season with the POWRi Non-Wing Outlaw Micro League.
Snyder, who was the high-point qualifier, shared the front row with Cody Barnes. Snyder took the lead, followed by Kale Drake, Barnes, Jett Nunley and Frank Flud.
A caution flag on lap six slowed the pace, but Snyder set the pace on the restart with Drake and Flud chasing.
Reforming the pack after a trio of mid-event cautions, Snyder continued to set the pace around a speedy Port City Raceway ahead of Drake.
Never wavering through a long green-flag run, Snyder kept the prized position over a late restart to capture his 13th career POWRi Non-Wing Outlaw Micro victory.
Drake finished second, with K.J. Snow finishing third.
“I was feeling good around the bottom early trying to keep Kale behind me then moved to the top around the lap ten restart and felt fast but almost like it was getting tricky late with the exit of two going all the way to the wall,” said Snyder. “Hopefully we can keep this momentum going into Saturday.”
Flud and Gunnar Pio rounded out the top five.
