GREENFIELD, Ind. – Petry Motorsports has announced that micro sprint star Emerson Axsom will drive the No. 15 Keizer Wheels midget, running the full POWRi schedule and select USAC events.
The teenaged Axsom is coming off one of the best seasons of his young career, including a victory during the Tulsa Shootout back in January.
Axsom will team up with and be mentored by some of dirt racing’s most talented drivers in Kevin Thomas Jr and Tanner Carrick, all while being directed under the watchful eye of Petry Driver Development President Scott Petry.
“I am beyond excited and humbled that Scott Petry and Petry Motorsports chose me to be a part of their team and a part of his driver development program,” said Axsom. “I am more than ready to take on this new challenge and can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Keizer Wheels No. 15 midget and drive. I have been working for this moment my whole life and I can’t thank Scott and our sponsors enough for this opportunity.”
Axsom’s sponsors include Gray Auto, Competition Suspension and Keizer Wheels.
“I’ve watched Emerson grow in his racing the past few years. He’s found success at each level and we believe he will represent Petry Motorsports and our partners very well,” said Scott Petry, president of Petry Motorsports. “The midget is the next step in his growing career, and we are proud to be a part of the next chapter.”
Emerson and Petry Motorsports have their first races together scheduled for May 23-24, during the Mid-State Open Wheel Nationals at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo.
The season-opening event for the POWRi National Midget League, POWRi West Midget League and POWRi WAR Sprint League will be streamed live via SPEED SPORT TV affiliate POWRi TV for fans who are unable to make it to the track on race day.
Limited admission tickets for the event are available online at valleyspeedway.com.
