Year-By-Year History: Ohio Sprint Speedweek

1995

Dale Blaney copped the 13th annual Ohio Speedweek championships despite not winning a feature, making he and his brother, Dave, the only brothers to claim the series title.

Kenny Jacobs and Joey Saldana each won a pair of features, while Mark Keegan, Kelly Kinser and Frankie Kerr also triumphed.

1996

Frankie Kerr captured the Ohio Speedweek finale at Attica Raceway Park to secure his third series title in four years.

Dale Blaney picked up a pair of feature victories, while Van Gurley Jr., Randy Kinser, Kelly Kinser and Craig Dollansky also won features.

1997

Joey Saldana banked the $10,000-to-win Ohio Speedweek finale at Attica Raceway Park and secured the series title in the process.

Kenny Jacobs led the weeklong tour with a pair of victories while Keith Kauffman, Frankie Kerr and Tyler Walker also won races.

1998

Frankie Kerr won twice en route to collecting his fourth Ohio Speedweek championship.

Dean Jacobs picked up $10,000 for winning the finale at Attica Raceway Park and Kevin Huntley, Joey Saldana and Kelly Kinser also scored victories. Rain claimed the Wayne County Speedway event.

1999

Joey Saldana won at Wayne County Speedway and Limaland Motorsports Park to claim his second Ohio Speedweek title.

Kenny Jacobs claimed the $10,000 finale at Attica, while Kelly Kinser and Butch Schroeder also won features. Two races were rained out.

2000

There were seven winners in seven nights during the 18th edition of Ohio Speedweek with Kenny Jacobs, who topped the $10,000-to-win finale at Eldora Speedway, claiming the weeklong championship.

Jeff Shepard, Byron Reed, Frankie Kerr, Kevin Huntley, Ed Lynch Jr. and Phil Gressman also won features.

2001

Dean Jacobs became the third driver to win the Ohio Sprint Speedweek title without winning a feature.

Byron Reed won the series opener and the $10,000-to-win finale at Portsmouth Raceway Park. Other winners were Travis Rilat, Mark Keegan, Greg Hodnett and Greg Wilson.

2002

Chad Kemenah used seven top-10 finishes to win the 20th annual Ohio Speedweek crown without winning a feature.

Seven different drivers won a main event, led by Danny Smith, who copped the $10,000 prize at Portsmouth Raceway Park. Other winners were Greg Wilson, Byron Reed, Kelly Kinser, Paul McMahan, John Ivey and Dale Blaney

2003

After six nights of racing and one rainout, Dale Blaney beat Chad Kemenah by just one point to win the Ohio Speedweek championship. Blaney posted two victories and two second-place finishes in the final four races of the series. Kemenah posted a lone victory.

Jason Johnson won a pair of features, including the $10,000-to-win finale at Portsmouth Raceway Park. Kelly Kinser and Byron Reed also won main events.

2004

Dale Blaney won three of the six races to earn his third Ohio Speedweek title and his second in a row. Jac Haudenschild, John Ivey and Tim Kaeding also won features, while the finale was rained out.

2005

Kelly Kinser captured the Ohio Speedweek championship without winning a feature.

Greg Wilson won twice, including the $10,000 big-money race at K-C Raceway. Chad Kemenah also picked up a pair of checkered flags. Danny Smith and Jac Haudenschild also tasted victory with one race being rained out.

2006

Dale Blaney won twice, including the big-money finale at Eldora Speedway, to claim his fourth Ohio Speedweek championship.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the big winner with three victories, while a power outage claimed the Wayne County Speedway round.

2007

Dale Blaney won a series-best three features, but Shane Stewart’s victory at Wayne County Speedway helped him secure the 25th Ohio Sprint Speedweek crown.

Ed Lynch Jr. won the $10,000 feature at Eldora Speedway, while Chad Blond and Paul May also claimed victories.
