Another domino has fallen in the great “World of Outlaws or High Limit Racing” debate as Chris Windom has elected to contest the full High Limit schedule with Vermeer Motorsports.
Aboard the No. 55 for team owner Tony Vermeer, Windom is set to compete in all 60 races on next season’s schedule, which includes the separate $100,000, 11-race Midweek Money Series chase.
The 32-year-old is coming off an impressive All Star Circuit of Champions season in which he finished second in the standings with 23 top-10 finishes. Windom was tapped as the driver of the Vermeer No. 55 entry in November.Â
Windom also boasts three national championships within the USAC ranks, having tallied Silver Crown (2016), sprint car (2017) and midget (2020) titles before moving to winged sprint cars in 2022.
This year, Windom competed in two High Limit races, with a best finish of sixth coming at Ohio’s Wayne County Speedway.
With the addition of Windom, 11 drivers and teams are committed to running full time in the upcoming High Limit season. Other drivers set to chase a High Limit title include Rico Abreu, Jacob Allen, Cory Eliason, Corey Day, Zeb Wise, Spencer Bayston, Kasey Kahne, Brad Sweet, Justin Peck and Brenham Crouch.Â
