JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Korey Weyant picked up his first Midwest Open Wheel Ass’n victory of the season in dominant fashion during Friday’s lidlifter at Jacksonville Speedway, besting the field of 23 competitors.
Weyant, the 2020 series champion, charged forward from his sixth-starting spot and chased down early race-leader Paul Nienhiser. Nienhiser retired early with damage after starting from the outside front-row.
Fending off challenges from Joe B. Miller, who piloted the Jake Neuman Racing #3N and Jake Blackhurst, Weyant was able to use the high side of the speedway to his advantage as he survived a feature plagued by multiple caution flags.
A late race charge from Riley Goodno allowed the Knoxville, Iowa driver to surge past Joe B. Miller to secure a third-place finish behind only winner Korey Weyant and runner-up Jake Blackhurst.
