Wagner Wins Port Royal’s Greg Hodnett Classic

PORT ROYAL, Pa. — Logan Wagner has won a number of big races at Port Royal Speedway. Saturday night he added the Greg Hodnett Classic to his résumé.

The win was worth $10,000 and was the first PA Sprint Speedweek win of his career.

Wagner and Brent Marks would start on the front row of the 30 lap A-main event and Wagner would jump out to the early lead.

In clean air, the No. 69k was hard to beat. A long green flag run to open the race saw some close racing between the top four that consisted of Wagner, Marks, Macri and Dietrich.

Dietrich would get by Macri just as the caution would fly with nine laps remaining, while Marks and Wagner continued to lead.

On the restart, Macri was able to get back by Dietrich for the final podium position as Dietrich would make contact with the outside wall in turn two.

Dietrich began to fall through the field and would hold on to an eighth-place finish while Logan Wagner would make his way to victory lane.

“That was a hard race,” said Wagner, “I felt like I was being tracked down by the 19. We were able to pick off the lap cars. Apparently, Davey and Donnie gave me the best car there was.”

Brent Marks held on to second and Macri founcdc out the podium. Macri will carry a 63-point lead into the Speedweek finale at Selinsgrove Speedway.

In super late model competition, Justin Weaver was able to lead from lap one to lap 25 for the $4,000 win.
