ATLANTA – The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour for winged sprint cars has scheduled a paved track event at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga., on July 20.
The race at the three-eighths-mile paved oval will serve as a “pre-qualifying ” opportunity for Atlanta Motor Speedway’s USCS Sprint Car Shootout on Aug. 30 during the Atlanta Motor Speedway NASCAR weekend. The top 10 finishing drivers in the USCS sprint car A-Main at Watermelon Capital Speedway on July 20 will have a guaranteed spot in the starting field of the USCS Sprint Car Shootout
The USCS Sprint Car Shootout will be contested at 9 p.m. on Aug. 30 just after the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams qualify for the AdvoCare 500.
The Watermelon Capital Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway USCS events will both be contested under the United Sprint Car Series rules for pavement events previously used for the 10 seasons the series competed regularly on paved ovals.
