DODGE CITY, Kan. — Rick Salem the founder of the United Rebel Sprint Series has died.
Salem was known as a former race car driver, promoter, series owner and family friend to all at the race track.
With the help of his friend, Jon Johnson, Salem created the United Rebel Sprint Series for 305 sprint car racing in 2006. It didn’t take long for the series to take credibility. Offering regional drivers top paying purses and an affordable platform, Salem took the URSS to the top across the nation.
In most recent adventures, Salem recently took on the Competition Director role for the High Plains Late Model Series and was looking forward to another year trying to grow the series.
Earlier this year, Salem was inducted to the Belleville High Bank’s Hall of Fame honoring his years as a driver and promoter.
Salem will be remembered by many not only for his dedication and love for the sport, but mostly for his character and dedication for the drivers and fans.
