CANEY, Kan. — Johnny Boland, Noah Key and Trey Zorn each captured their first Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division victory of the season on Friday evening during the opening round of the Border-Town Throwdown hosted by Caney Valley Speedway.
Boland won the Stock Non-Wing main event to record his first career national score in the division while Key (Winged ‘A’ Class) and Zorn (Restricted ‘A’ Class) both picked up their first-ever national triumph.
Boland advanced from fourth and held off fifth-starting Kenton Brewer to become the 14th different Stock Non-Wing winner this season. Timothy Watson III finished third with Austin Lambert fourth and points leader Bradley Fezard fifth.
Key outlasted NOW600 Series winningest driver Frank Flud for the Winged ‘A’ Class main event win. Brewer placed third with Boland fourth and Zorn fifth.
Zorn maneuvered from the fourth starting position to come out on top of the Restricted ‘A’ Class feature. Talin Turner recorded a runner-up result with points leader Jade Avedisian rounding out the podium. Gaige Weldon was fourth and Tyler Kuykendall fifth.
