Starks Filling In For Thiel At Texas Dirt Track

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Trey Starks is venturing to Texas this weekend to tackle the final Kubota High Limit Racing doubleheader of the season.

Starks will drive for Scotty Thiel on Friday and Saturday at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Fort Worth, where the finale pays $50,000 to win. It will mark the first time Starks has teamed up with Thiel as well as his first time competing at the track.

“It’ll be cool to go to a new track,” he said. “From watching videos, it looks like a track that I will enjoy. It’s pretty wide and has a lot of room. It looks like it has some speed in it. It’ll be a fun and exciting opportunity to go down for a bonus weekend to end the season.”

Starks won his first two career High Limit Racing starts this season and he has three top 10s in four total races with the series.

“You don’t want to set expectations too high, but at the same time I know it’s good equipment that I’ll be in,” he said. “For some reason I seem to do well the first time I go to a new track in a new environment. I definitely have high hopes. I think there’s an opportunity for some good runs. It’ll be different from our operation with different cars and engines. As long as I get comfortable I think I can have a good run.”

This weekend’s races will also be the first time Starks will have ever competed in the state of Texas.
