BELLEVILLE, Kan. — Reigning Malvern Bank 360 Sprint Car Series champion Stu Snyder hustled his way to victory lane in the tour’s return to the historic Belleville High Banks.
The half-mile circular oval played host to the Malvern Bank 360 Sprint Car Series for round five of the season. Drivers from all over Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri made the trip for a chance to add their name winners list in the 100+ year history of the speedway.
Snyder and Jason Martin shared the front row for the 20-lap feature.
Snyder jumped to the lead and proceeded to run away with the show early on. Martin gave chase, while further in the pack, Don Droud Jr. proceeded to throw slide jobs on Danley for position.
In the final five laps of the race, Snyder and Martin had to navigate lapped traffic. Snyder was caught behind a lapped car allowing Martin to close in and challenge for the lead. Martin had tried to make a pass in turn three for the lead, but Snyder was quicker on the outside lane to keep the top spot.
Joey Danley brought out the race’s only yellow flag when he was slow through turns three and four. This set up a green-white-checkered dash to the finish.
On the ensuing restart, Martin drew in close to Snyder and tried for one last go for a slide job in turn two. Snyder beat Martin to the outside lane, and Snyder would not be overtaken for the rest of the way.
Snyder captured the win leading all 20 laps to secure his second win with the series on the year and also fulfilling a dream of winning on the High Banks.
It was Snyder’s first time in victory lane at Belleville. Jason Martin would have to settle for second while Shayle Bade took third in only her second start in a 360 sprint car this season. Jeremy Campbell came in fourth, and point leader Chase Porter rounded out the top five.
