Slim Lead For Reutzel In Ohio Speedweek Points

FREMONT, Ohio – For the second night in a row, a driver used a victory to move to the top of the Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek point standings.

Sunday night, it was All Star championship leader Aaron Reutzel who accomplished the feat, leading the final 20 laps at the third-mile Fremont Speedway to capture his first Speedweek win and seventh overall All Star victory of the season.

That moved Reutzel to the top of the heap with 440 points, two more than Buddy Kofoid.

Kofoid sits on 438 heading into his final Speedweek appearance of the week before departing to tackle a POWRi midget tripleheader.

Paul McMahan leaped to third in Speedweek points with 416 after a podium finish Sunday night, followed by Cale Conley (414) and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jac Haudenschild (392).

Cap Henry (388), Lee Jacobs (382), Skylar Gee (376), Tim Shaffer (374) and Greg Wilson (368) filled out the top 10 in the updated Ohio Speedweek rundown.

Wilson was third heading into Sunday’s program, but missed transferring to the feature through heat races and the B-main, forcing him to take a provisional to start the main.

Under Ohio Speedweek rules, provisional starters receive the 90 points they would have earned as a non-transfer car, not the feature points for where they finished.

Wilson raced from 25th to 10th Sunday night, ending as the Hercules Tire Hard Charger.

Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek continues Monday night at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. Kofoid is the defending Speedweek winner at the track.
